Building for the Future - Phase One
The work consisted
of the renovation of existing, and installation of new, mechanical and electrical
systems serving the existing third floor of the DuPont/7th Street Buildings,
and the fourth floor of the Clayton Street Building. The project included
approximately 15,100 square feet of renovation to the third floor of the existing
DuPont/7th Street Buildings, and approximately 19,500 square feet of renovation
to the fourth floor of the existing Clayton Street Building. The renovation
included:
Surgery - 10,310 square feet consisting of two open heart operating rooms,
sub-sterile, pump room, vestibule, scrub area, in-patient holding and associated
support spaces.
Cardiac Cath Lab - 3,340 square feet consisting of two procedure rooms,
two control rooms, two electrical (equipment) rooms, scrub area and associated
support spaces.
Waiting Room - 1,450 square feet serving Surgery and the Cardiac Cath Labs.
Cardiac Rehab - 1,750 square feet consisting of a cardiac gym, assessment
room, education room and men's and women's locker rooms, toilets and showers.
Cardiac Diagnostics - 6,400 square feet consisting of three nuclear medicine
procedure rooms, two treadmill rooms, hot lab, echo/ treadmill room, echo
room, tilt/ multi testing room and associated support spaces.
Reception - 1,850 square feet consisting of a reception/ file area, waiting
room, elevator lobby and connecting corridors.
Intermediate Care Unit - 9,500 square feet consisting of renovations to
13 existing semi-private patient and toilet rooms and associated support spaces.

Diagnostic Cardiac Cath Lab
Renovations The project included the renovation of approximately 7,600 square
feet of existing second floor space in the Ancillary Building to create a
storage room/office space for future conversion to a new multi-purpose operating
room, sub-sterile room, sterile corridor, and sterile storage room to support
the expansion of surgical services. Also included was a new Diagnostic Cardiac
Cath Lab, located adjacent to the surgical suite, consisting of a new procedure
room (along with its associated control and equipment rooms) and associated
support spaces, including the relocation of the main egress corridor to the
exterior of the second floor space.

Surgery Suite Renovation/ PACU Expansion
The project included the renovation of approximately 7,400 square feet of
existing third floor surgical suite to create a new cardio-vascular operating
room and its associated support spaces, perfusion room, sterile processing
and storage spaces. Also included was the renovation and expansion of the
PACU and Holding areas (and their associated medical support spaces), as well
as renovations to existing administrative support spaces.

Emergency Department Renovations
The project consisted of the phased renovation of approximately 19,000 square
feet of existing ground floor space to completely renovate the existing Emergency
Department. The work included the creation of ten new treatment rooms in addition
to the upgrading of the existing treatment spaces. The department services
were relocated and expanded to improve flow processes to reduce patient stay
times and increase patient satisfaction scores. New medical technologies were
included in the project support by new mechanical and electrical systems.

Addition and Renovations
Wick Fisher White designed the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
for a new 34,000 square foot, 4-story addition. The scope of work also included
renovations to approximately another 26,000 square feet that involved expanding
and upgrading the existing Emergency Department. Our design was in accordance
with LEED requirements as requested by Mercy Healthcare. Construction of the
building is complete and Mercy Healthcare is still pursuing LEED registration.
